Should students propose BOFs?

We strongly encourage students at all levels to propose BOFs. If you are a junior/senior in an undergraduate program, think of the things you have learned that would have made life easier if you had known them two years ago (tools to excelling in project courses, how to manage ad" semester, etc). If you are in graduate school, think about advice you would give others in graduate school or those considering graduate school. If you have learned a neat tool or have had an unusual experience (research, travel abroad, etc) then consider sharing that information. Perhaps you would just like to get to know other students interested in discussing some research area or topic.

I would like to attend a BOF on "X," but I know nothing about it!

We want to support students by helping them get the information they need at Grace Hopper. To this end, we will try to arrange BOFs of interest, even if no one knowledgeable in that area has proposed one. Send your BOF idea to the BOF program chair, Beth Simon (bsimon [at] sandiego [dot] edu), and we will attempt to find someone to host the discussion.

To propose a BOF or get more information on BOFs, please see the BOF submission site.
